Rainy Days

Little notebooks/notepads made with vintage portraits/postcards.

On New Years Day, with the wind and rain clattering at the window, I finally managed to get crafting with a few of the vintage portraits from my ever-growing stash. Little notebooks/notepads made with vintage portraits/postcards.Out came the sewing machine, the lace, and the scraps of paper. I think it’s safe to say that I was very happy… Inside of a notebook made from a vintage postcard.SAM_7448I made them into little notebooks, filled with paper from shopping bags, an old sketchbook, and rolls of pretty wallpaper found in charity shops. The back is made with paper from vintage sheet music booklets, glued over card, and finished – of course – with lace. Vintage portrait, upcycled into an eco friendly mini notepad.1930s portrait of a women. 1930s fashion. Postcard upcycled into a notebook.I’m pleased with how they turned out. I’m always a little nervous, always a little worried at the start of a project – I know I can’t go back and buy another one the same if it goes wrong. But once you get going, you’re going. You know what will look right, know what you should do next. It’s a good feeling.

And there are plenty more rainy days in the forecast. The sewing machine, the lace, the paper, and the portraits are at the ready…

Happy New Year!

Here’s to many more vintage finds for 2014 πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Poppy! πŸ™‚ I’m certainly looking forward to many a vintage treasure hunt this year. Watch out car boot sales of the south-west!

  2. Love them! I know what you mean about braving the first beloved finds, then you get into your groove and everything falls into place πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Mandy! There’s nothing quite like that happy and contented feeling you get as a crafter seeing what you’d imagined beginning to become real. Makes the worrying worthwhile. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! I found them at a local market. I love going round flea markets and car boot sales looking for interesting things to recycle into something new – it’s a bit of an addiction!

  3. There’s not much nicer than being cosy indoors and crafting when it’s wet outside. Your notebooks are lovely, especially with the vintage lace trim.
